Still Sharp Music operates like an academy and all of our teachers are qualified musicians in their fields. The company is owned by David Holling who was a secondary school teacher for 11 years before creating the Still Sharp company. David's vision was to create an educational environment for amateur adult musicians to learn more about music at all levels.

David has a 1st Class honours degree in music from the University of Huddersfield . He was awarded the Sellers Engineering scholarship for musical excellence in 1992 and the Harry Mortimer Memorial scholarship for excellence in brass studies in 1994.
Whether you are a competent musician or an absolute beginner, Still Sharp Music can offer music education to you and furthermore, your learning programme can be designed to suit your individual needs at a reasonable cost.
Based in Thurcroft, near Rotherham/ Sheffield, Still Sharp operates much of it's teaching from here but some workshops and training programmes are held nationwide. Our specialisms are music technology and jazz tuition but the company is certainly not limited to these fields and most genres of music can be catered for. Popular schemes include workshops on the use of Sibelius software on PC or Mac, scoring for brass band and music appreciation classes to name but a few, all conducted in an informal, well-humoured, yet focused adult environment.

Bespoke Arrangements, Composition & Orchestrations
David is a skilled and well sought after composer and arranger and has published works for orchestra, wind band, brass band, chamber ensembles, jazz and pop groups. In addition to his work as a faciltator with Still Sharp, he continues to write and orchestrate. This product is particularly popular for weddings and occasions where people may want a specific piece of music arranging or writing for a particular group of musicians. Whether it be a solo for cornet with brass band arrangement or a compilation for orchestra and choir, David can work with virtually any medium.
