Technology at Still Sharp
Technology features heavily in our list of facilities offered at Still Sharp. Whilst we still apply a great emphasis to instrumental music, technology is becoming increasingly more important in the music world. Most of our workshops encourage the use of technology when appropriate and we have excellent facilities which continue to develop as an on-going process.
Presently we have a portable lab of laptops sporting the latest versions of studio recording, desk top publishing and sequencing software packages. We also use 16-track home recording studios (which are also available for hire). Learning about recording techniques is a valuable tool for many musicians and a great hobby for others.
Cubase is software with fully integrated tools for working with loops, beats and vocals, such as LoopMash and VariAudio, combining with new composition features and the first VST3 convolution reverb to take musical creativity to fantastic heights. Cubase represents the absolute cutting edge in digital audio workstations. We also have the Yamaha KX61 for use - a fully integrated keyboard studio package that can be linked with Cubase AI.

is a scorewriter program, created by Sibelius Software for Microsoft Windows, Mac OS, and RISC OS. It is used by composers, arrangers, performers, music publishers, teachers and students, particularly for writing classical, jazz, band, vocal, film and TV music. In addition to editing and printing scores, Sibelius can also play music back using high-quality sounds, scan in printed scores for editing, and publish scores on the Internet.

Studio Technology: At Still Sharp we use the Zoom HD8s & HD16s to deliver education on home recording techniques. These are highly equipped all-in-one units for real-time recording. The advantage of these machines is that they have 8 separate inputs to enable 8-track simultaneous recording. They house a comprehensive bank of digital effects and reverb capabilities as well as in-built CD writers for instant copy to CD at the touch of a button. Time stretch and pitch rectifiers are also included.
Still Sharp offers workshops, individual tuition, teacher training and many other opportunities using our technology equipment. We even hire out some of our portable studio euipment on a daily basis. For more details CONTACT US.
